In June 2009, the 2009 D-Day Memorial Scale Fly-in turned out to
be a great success. Everyone, as always, worked together to pull off
a well run event. A special thanks to our judges, Evan Wenger, Ed Wunder, Rich Balding and Lad Doctor. Thanks to Dallas Stroud and
John Larsen for their contributions, and thanks to contest director,
Danny Volgamore, for organizing a fun event. Ed Wunder gets a second
thanks for the great job he always does cutting our field.

In the April 2009 issue, club
meeting location change for
April and the April Fools
FunFly 2009 is in the books
and happened on the first try
this year. Shooters Waltz -
Dallas starting off with what
could have been a winning time
only to find the number 11
illusive. Darren taxiing
clean, flying smooth. Paul
taxiing fast only to have the
motor stall on takeoff,
restart and doing a very
expeditious job with the
aileron roll and loop. Grab
Bag Acro - John L's Loop,
Dallas' Aileron Roll, Robert's
Loop. Touch-n-Goes - Gary
getting in the groove doing a
touch on each side of the
racetrack pattern he was
flying, Dallas and Darren
getting 10 and 8 and pressing
hard before breaking their
equipment. Climb - Glide -
Alan found the lift and would
probably still be in the air
over northwest Denton had I
not asked him to land. Spot
Landing - The wind was a bit
tricky but several planes were
not able to taxi away from the
spot, the winners (Dallas)
included. And to the 2
rookies, Spencer and Chris.
